The “Hand-Release” press up is a great way to test your endurance when it comesĀ  to correct form and body tensioning.

It requires you to “reset” your body tensioning everytime.

So there is no place for any 1980’s catepillar breakdancing.

By lifting your hands off the floor you also work the shoulder blades back into retraction and then pushing down into protraction.

Working the often overlooked but important muscle of the serratus anterior (See the Press Up Plus video).

Don’t forget the 5 pillars of stability.

Try the hand-release push up and very quickly you will relise that they require so much more effort than you think.

The goal is amount quality over quantity. Your last rep should be just as good as your first!
